WHAT TO EXPECT

We are hoping the weather holds for this fun event. Expect to have a terrific time while enjoying the beautiful a day out delighting in the panoramic view of this beautiful location. Fresh air will do our body good.

OTHER TID BITS:

  • Several area rocketry enthusiasts/groups will be on-site for this event.

  • Upon arrival, please find our Pack 964 Set-Up. We will attempt to be close to main entrance to the range.

  • Please plan to arrive by 11 AM for the safety briefing (be there!).

  • Soon after briefing, we'll begin to assist in preparing each rocket to launch.

  • Remind your scout that patience will be needed this day. Everyone will want to launch back-to-back, but it takes a little time to prepare each rocket, plus there will be other groups launching that day.

  • Remember to name each rocket. They will announce each rocket before it launches. It's fun for the scouts to hear their named craft before its "blast off".

  • Please remind your scout to always stay close to you and to use the "Buddy System" to roam around our set-up area.

  • Parents: For safety reasons, please go with your scout to seek out their rockets after each launch.

  • Snacks: There is a small corner store before entering the Great Meadow parking lot, offering sandwiches, drinks and snacks, etc.  We recommend each family bring a picnic lunch, drinks, snacks, etc., to enjoy more time at the range. (Leave No Trace principles apply).

  • This is an outdoor event, open field with minimal shade. Useful items to Bring

    • HIKING ESSENTIALS, Sun protection, snack/lunch, water bottle, etc.

    • Camp chairs (Even if you don't launch, it's fun to be a spectator, lounge and fellowship with fellow Pack 964 family.)

    • Throw Blankets (if it's chillier than you'd like)

    • Scouts wear Activity (Class B) Tee or Field Uniform if no Class B tee.

  •   There is a porta potty on site. Parents: please accompany scouts to bathroom.

We will be launching our rockets through the support of a wonderful local 'model rocket' club called NOVAAR.
