TID BITS ABOUT
PINEWOOD DERBY
2020

Pinewood Derby event consists of fun and exciting race of cars you and your son have worked on together. The parade/display of craft & creativity is fun and exciting to see. It can get competitive, but most importantly, this event is about having fun. Your scout can be as creative as his and your ability will allow . Even if your scout decides to race a wedge on wheels, it's all fair and fun.

There are awards given to the most creative, the fastest, the best paint or colorful, etc, depending on the choices by the PALs leading this event.

Weigh-ins are usually part of the check-in, but to shorten the event time this year, we'll do Final Weigh-in (IN POUND cars) at the January 24th Final Inspection& Weigh-In. Here we'll weight and impound your car to await Race Day or the actual Pinewood Derby Event. If you followed the rules, weigh-in should be a breeze.

Games, raffles, activities entertain the scouts while they wait to race or race again for finals. We need parents to help in this effort.

Pit Crew Cafe (Concession Stand) offers a variety of food/snacks for sale and fundraiser for the Pack. Scouts like to invite family and/or friends to come join you and have a snack on race day!

Please consider signing up TODAY to volunteer. Many crews are needed to help this event succeed. Be on the lookout for emails regarding this event.

Pinewood Derby on Sunday, January 26th at the VFW Post 1503 on Minnieville Road @ 5:30 pm

December 19th - DELIVERY OF PINEWOOD DERBY KITS
If you attend the Dec. 19th DECEMBER Pack Meeting your scout will receive his Pinewood Derby Kit. If you miss this meeting, please contact your Den Leader ASAP to make arrangements to obtain your kit. We try to give everyone ample time to begin working with their scout in crafting their car.
INSIGHT TO NEW FAMILIES: If you're new to Scouting, this is a very exciting and fun event for scouts, as they will build their own pinewood car and race against fellow scouts. It's a fun family event. There are endless ideas online on how to help your scout craft his car. There are some general rules and guidelines to follow, but in the meantime, take the time to review with him his favorite idea and begin working together towards that goal. Local shops like Lowes, Ace Hardware an Hobby Lobby carry PWD kit and individual pieces, in case you lose or break anything that comes in your scout's kit. Siblings/additional kits may be purchased for $5 ea and prepare a car to race in our Siblings Race our OUTLAW RACE for adult leaders & interested adults/parents who wish to participate in the race for fun.
